Kennedy / San Souci Beach / Faith

At left is a photo of the Faith and San Souci flag stops as they appeared in 1940. Compare this with the map image at right, which shows the locations of Kennedy, San Souci, and Faith flag stops. All three stations were close to each other, possibly with all pavillions within a one mile stretch of track.

Many of the individual pavillions along the line were named for people, or families, who lived in the general area.

Kennedy pavilion, seen in the image at far right, was located about one mile west of Coden, and about a half-mile from San Souci Beach. This flag stop may have also been known as Barrett. The enlargement at left shows where the pavilion may have stood.

San Souci pavilion, seen at near right, was located at the east juncture of the 'Y' leading north to Bayou la Batre. Likely it was in visual sight of the Faith pavillion. This photo is looking west, toward the lead tracks of the seafood processing facility on Portersville Bay.

Trains heading for Bayou la Batre would run down the tracks to the left side of the pavillion, past the opposite juncture of the 'Y', then back up past the Faith pavillion so that they would be locomotive-forward when pulling out for the return trip. Those tracks became the operational spur for the seafood processing plant on Portersville Bay. In the image at left, a clearing behind the frog of the wye identifies the location of this pavilion.

Faith pavilion, seen at left, was located at the north leg of the 'Y' leading to Bayou la Batre, and was on the west side of the tracks. This photo is looking north toward BLB, which is about one mile distant.

Somewhere along this portion of the Bayou la Batre lead is where the Faith pavilion stood. The trees in the background have apparently been cleared out by 1940.
