An early morning derailment on Tuesday, April 27, damaged fourteen cars from a BNSF train in Caliente, California.

According to reports, BNSF train H-BARPAS1-27, enroute from Barstow, California to Pasco, Washington, experienced an undesired emergency brake application at approximately 05:00 PST.

Inspection of the train found that fourteen cars were derailed in a zig-zag manner approximately 25 miles east of Bakersfield. The derailment completely blocked the single main track at the site.
