Union Pacific's Mojave Subdivision
Bakersfield, CA to West Colton, CA

Updated:  03/21/2005

Introduction

Two of the world's most famous railroading landmarks and amazing feats of engineering lie along the lines of one subdivision. That sub would be the Union Pacific's Mojave Sub and the locations hinted at are the Cajon Pass and the Tehachapi Loop. With an abundance of trains and the extra bonus of BNSF trackage rights, it is no wonder that this sub brings visitors from all over the world to watch the show unfold, mountain railroading at its best.

Much has been written, photographed, and video taped along this sub. The rise of the Internet also increased the availability of material and information about the locations and with a little net savvy you'll find literally hundreds of pages of information, pictures and tips dedicated to the exploration of Tehachapi and Cajon and by extension the Mojave Sub. This page will serve as my feeble attempt to provide you with an additional source for information and to fill in the gaps along the remaining locations and stations along the sub. It never cease to amaze me how many people still ask on the various forums about a place like Cajon or Tehachapi, when it is so thoroughly covered on-line and in print. So enjoy the info and hopefully it will help you in planning your trip to these locations.
