PRR Grogan Yard


Pennsylvania Railroad's Grogan yard was located west of N&W's Joyce Avenue yard.  On Jan. 22, 1930 PRR board appropriates $1.1million for enlarging Grogan Yard.  In July of that same year Grogan Yard was enlarged from 1,010 to 2,105 car capacity.  In October 1930, the ten-track receiving yard open.  Purpose of Grogan Yard was to dispatch coal trains up the Sandusky Branch that were received from N&W's Joyce Avenue Yard.  The Pennsylvania Railroad's Sandusky Branch became part of the N&W in October 1964 so Grogan Yard lost its importance.   At some point after, it was use as a storage yard. Now there are few traces of the yard in the brush. I could only find a few old tracks in the undergrowth. Below are photos of the area today.
