1. Figure 1 - Operating The Complete Main Line

2. Operating Sequence

A. If Toggle switch is in OFF position (deactivated).

  1. Unit will pass DCC power directly through to the track.
  2. All led's and functioning will be OFF.

B. When Toggle switch is changed from OFF to ON.

  1. GREEN led turns ON indicate READY state.
  2. RED and YELLOW leds are OFF.

C. Train interrupts infra-red sensing beam

. . S-T-O-P timer is activated.

  1. RED led turns ON to indicate STOP timer activated.
  2. GREEN led turns OFF.
  3. Output switches from DCC to reverse DC, causing train to stop.
  4. Above state will be maintained for duration of STOP timer.

D. STOP timer times out

. . D-E-L-A-Y timer starts.

  1. YELLOW led turns ON to indicate DELAY timer activated.
  2. RED led turns OFF.
  3. Output switches from reverse DC to DCC, so train can start.
  4. Above state maintained for duration of DELAY timer.
This allows two things to happen:
    • If the train is stopped in the detector beam, the train can start up without re-activating the STOP timer.
    • If the DELAY timer is adjusted long enough, the train can make two or three or four or five loops before it stops again.

E. DELAY timer times out.

  1. YELLOW led turns OFF.
  2. GREEN led lights to indicate READY state.
  3. When detector beam is interrupted the next time, sequence will start over at Step C.

3. Other Notes

  1. Rectify DCC signal to power the time/sensor module.

  2. Use the rectified DCC power to provide DC power to track during stop.

  3. Provide switch to disable "Timed Stop" mode.

  4. Need adjustable STOP timer to determine when to revert back to DCC power.
    • Adjustable from about 10 to 200 or maximum possible seconds ??

  5. Need adjustable DELAY timer to determine delay reactivating stopping circuit.
    • Adjustable from about 10 to 200 or maximum possible seconds ??

  6. Deacceleration distance is handled by
    1. moving sensor upstream
    2. change deacceleration rate of loco

  7. Sensor/indicator module--takes 4 or 5 wires.

  8. Provide toggle switch to disable "Timed Stop" mode.

  9. Provide isolation/protection to use to operate a separate stop-block if desired.

  10. 4 holes in bottom so can screw down to piece of wood.

4. Figure 2 - Shown Operating A Stop Block (for 2 train operation)
