NOTES AND INFO:
Baldwin Locomotive Works built 127 of these 1600 HP locomotives between 1950 and 1955.
Only four of these units were delivered to the WM in Baldwin's biggest production year of
1951. They came designed to MU to work in pairs, and were MU'd on the short hood end only.
On the WM, these units spent the bulk of their careers working in pairs in and around Hagerstown, MD.
They could often be seen switching in the yards or retrieving freight from the WM/Reading connection
further north. They also worked with WM's road slugs until their retirement in 1968, thus transferring
the slugs to couple with the EMD BL2 units
