Parts - Notes

bulletFluid Clutch
The fluid clutch helps control the rpm's of your engine.  In doing so it also affects things like take off speed, engine torque, etc.  I have been told that you must make sure the level of fluid in the clutch is adequate and that you don't want to ruin one of them.  Having said that, I have had mine apart to see pictures from that hair raising experience click here.
bulletBrake Adjustment Assembly
The Brake Adjustment Assembly isn't necessarily complicated, but I would advice always leaving one in tack so that you have something to compare to make sure you get it put back together correctly.  Incorrectly assembled assemblies will cause extensive wear on braking parts and may them to break loose while train is in motion.
bulletLubricants
These items are what other train owners use, I don't feel qualified to say whether they are good or bad.
bulletDistributor & Cap
When replacing your Distributor Cap make note of where the wires are connected to it.  Some of the replacement caps that can be purchased are not numbered correctly for use with the Wisconsin Engines.
bulletStarter
Note, on some of the pictures how the teeth of the drive are worn away, this will require replacement of the starter drive.  A worn out starter drive could be caused by a number of different things.
   - Using the wrong starter for the motor or a modified 6 to 12 volt
      starter (see my maintenance article).
   - A starter that isn't aligned properly with the ring gear.

If the teeth on the starter are wearing be alert to possible wear on the teeth of the ring gear (seem my maintenance article).

bulletRing Gear
The Ring Gear pictured is worn from a bad starter (see my maintenance article) and must be replaced or spun to use the reverse side.  On most trains in order to remove or work on the Ring Gear the engine must be physically removed from the train.
