RAILROADS OF THE EAST PAGE 1

WELCOME TO MY PHOTO GALLERY

At Terre Haute, Indiana there's a signal tower that still operates as it always did.   Haley Tower is still in operation 24 hours a day and is owned and ran by CSX.  Haley is where the Conrail St. Louis Line subdivision crosses the CSX CE&D sub ( from Chicago, Illinois to Nashville, Tennessee) and the CR line goes from St. Louis to Alliance, Ohio.  This tower is a good spot to watch lots of Conrail and CSX and a few CP Rail trains.  The tower will be coming down at anytime due to the planned construction of crossovers from the CR line to the CSX replacing the switch crossing, as a result of CR being split up by CSX and Norfolk Southern. (left)  CR 7911 GP38 is the switch engine at Terre Haute that day and makes a few runs past Haley with boxcars. (middle)  CR 6761 west passes the street crossing east of the tower.  The consist is: CR 6761 SD60, CR6235 DASH 8-40CW and  a DASH 8-40C. (right)  CSX 7638 south eases past Haley around 11:00a.m.  CSX 7638 is a 8-40C and CSX 7737 is a 8-40CW. Photos by Eric Burris in July 1997.

Conrail 3352 west switches the yard for fifteen minutes.  CR 3352 and 3340 is a GP40-2.  CSX 2174 rushes past nortbound through Haley.  CSX 2174 is still in Seaboard System paint except for the front.  CSX still has many locomotives that haven't been repainted in CSX colors. The locomotives are as follows: CSX 2174 is a GP38, 7015 a U30C, and 4606 is an SD40.     Photos by Eric Burris in July 1997.
