WELCOME TO STAN'S RAILPIX !

West Chester Railroad, Page 3 of 3.

Night Photo Ride.

On August 25 2001, a Night Photo Ride was held on The West Chester Railroad, starting at The Market Street Station in West Chester Penna. Kermit Geary Jr. directed the night photo shoot and provided Lumedyne lighting with the help of Fred Jones.
I would like to thank WCRR President Mr. Joe Giacchino and the entire friendly crew at the WCRR. A special thanks to WCRR Conductor Ken Petonke, who took the time to arrange access to the Locomotive cabs, and for providing information about the railroad and passing landmarks.

3 night images at Cheyney Station with vintage automobiles. This station is 4.5 miles from The Market Street Station and is near the Cheyney-Thornton grade crossing. They were taken using West Chester Railroad GP-9 #99, built by EMD in 1957 and rated at 1750 HP. This engine, former B&O #6499, is painted in Pennsylvania Railroad colors. The interesting thing about night photo images, is that each one is unique.

2 night images (time exposures) taken with available light. The left image was taken at Cheyney Station as Kermit Geary Jr. directed WCRR # 99 into position. The right image was taken at Locksley Station looking toward the Locksley Road grade crossing.

3 night images taken at Locksley Station looking toward the Locksley Road grade crossing. The station is 5.9 miles from The Market Street Station in West Chester. Note the PRR Position Light Signal.

2 night images (time exposures) taken with available light at Locksley Station.

3 night images taken at The Glenn Mills Station which was built about 1881. It is 7.2 miles from the Market Street Station and was restored by The Thornbury Historical Society. The images feature West Chester Railroad ALCO DRS-18U #1803, 1800 HP, ex-Canadian Pacific #1803, built by MLW in 1960. Opposite the station is The Pratt & Company building that has served as a general store for the area since 1882.
