July '97 Trip to San Diego Soundpage
I used my Panasonic RN-402 mini-cassette recorder hooked directly to my Yaesu FT-411E ham radio or Uniden Bearcat BC-200XLT Scanner. Using the VOX set at medium sensitivity, I was able to capture rail traffic without having to listen continuously with my finger on the record button! The sounds are in WAV format and some of the files are quite large. Please let me know if any of these sounds don't play correctly.
- Near Hobart Tower (119K) UP Hobart Tower wanting to know our delay along the River Subdivision on the way to San Diego - 7/23/97
- The conductor on #774 (86K) questioning a ticket for Custom Class in Fullerton.
- A surprise group (100K) gets on at San Juan Capistrano
- "Hi-Ball San Diego" (20K) the conductor on #781 said.
- Near San Juan Capistrano (238K) the engineer is given instructions from the dispatcher
- Lost communications (145K) between the conductor and engineer at Glendale
- Metrolink Detector (198K) with two distinct voices at MP 7.8 near Burbank JCT
- A car attendant on #781 (99K) protests a rider with a surfboard getting on at Solana Beach
- Our engineer on #781 (153K) getting "Work and Time" in the Pacific Block at Santa Barbara. He is blowing the whistle while reading back the authority to the dispatcher!
