Blocks & Switches as train control

Blocks:
Blocks are sections of track that are independently controlled.  They are isolated from the rest of the track using track pins made of wood or plastic (insulators).
Block allow you to control a trains speed and direction when it is on that section of track.  Because they allow you to speed up or slow down a train, to avoid a collision, you are able to operate more than one train on your layout.

Switches (Turnouts):
They can also be used to control voltage on your layout. The different colored sidings are all powered via the switch positions. I am able to have three idle trains on the track ready to roll at the turn of a 'switch'. (use '2 train' switch position)
