The Tennessee Alabama and Georgia Railway

This site is dedicated to the history of the Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia Railway, and its rolling stock, motive power, and structures that supported a railroad than ran from Chattanooga, Tennessee, through Georgia, and into Gadsden, Alabama. The TAG ceased to exist in 1971, when it was purchased and merged into the Southern Railway System. Today, only a fraction of its original trackage is still in operation, the segment from Chattanooga, TN to Hedges, GA, being operated by the Chattooga & Chickamauga Railway and primarily serving Reichhold Industries, a major chemical manufacturer in northwest Georgia.
