Track Structures & Yards on the TAG

The TAG Route maintained a yard and office in the south end of Chattanooga, at the north end of their railroad. This part of town is known as Alton Park.

Map of the Chattanooga TAG Railroad yard in 1917 (it was the TAG Railroad at that time). Notice that the roundhouse is marked dilapidated as the TAG was having hard times financially at that time. Drawing courtesy of Warren Stephens.

View from the C&C CF7 #103 of the remains of the TAG yard in Chattanooga. The depot was located in the middle of the yard and has been torn down. Picture courtesy of Derrick Davis.
At-grade crossing of the TAG line and the (now) CSX Alton Park Spur. Taken 9/24/2000. The STOP signs are posted for the TAG and there is a sign for the southbound movement, hidden behind the one you can see.
This foundation is all that remains of a water tank on the C&C's ex-TAG Route railroad. This water tank was located around milepost 21.2. Picture is courtesy Derrick Davis.
The TAG had a large trestle just south of Blue Pond, AL, over Yellow Creek. In this view, a Southern Railway steam excursion, powered by engines 722 and 750, crosses over (courtesy of George Elwood). Unfortunately, Norfolk Southern has removed the steel spans and all that remains are the bridge pilings. The steel spans are now at the old TAG Gadsden Yard.
