1998 NRHS Syracuse Convention

The northbound trip on July 11th from Chenango Forks to Syracuse was led by Lackawanna E8 808. The passenger extra had to hold while NYS&W stack train 555 with SD45 3614 in commmand charged by.

The night photo session at Armory Sqyare in Syracuse on the night of July 11th featured Lackawanna E8 808, OnTrack RDC M-5 and Susquehanna 2-8-2 142.

The Convention finale on July 12th was on the Finger Lakes Railway between Syracuse and Auburn. Finger Lakes GP9 1703 led the train into Auburn. The E8s were cut off before entering town, but assisted the 1703 for much of the trip.

Many fans wrapped up the Convention by hanging out on the Willis Avenue overpass in Solvay, west of downtown Syracuse. Conrail "Ballast Express" Dash 8-32C 6610 led auto racks westbound on the evening of July 12th.
