The National Railway Historical Society held its annual Convention in Sacramento, California, from June 21-26, 1999. The Convention was hosted by the Central Coast Chapter and done as a joint event with the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society.


On June 21st, conventioneers were bussed to McCloud, California, for a trip the following day on the McCloud Railway. Outside of McCloud, 2-6-2 No.25 put on an impressive display hauling the excursion train under Mount Shasta.

Around lunch time, McCloud No.25 coupled onto four boxcars and a caboose and pulled the photo freight through the yard in McCloud.

The photo freight ran all the way to Bartle, while McCloud SD38 No.36 handled the passenger train.

"Thank you. Thank you very much." Union Pacific 4-8-4 hauls a train past the King of Towers, Elvas, on June 23rd as the excursion leaves Sacramento. The destination of the trip was Tehama on the former Southern Pacific.
