Finally, regular-service Kawasaki car 9059 pulls up behind PCC 2728, ending the photo stop. It's time to reboard and get out of the way.

It's now January 30, 1999, and we have two PCC's on the road. Car 2732 is on Old York Road while 2785 turns off Erie Avenue. This loop is just off SEPTA's Route 23, which is operated by bus but maintained for charters.

Two kids come out to greet car 2732 and about 60 photographers on the charter during a photo stop on 10th Street.

In Center City, car 2785 emerges from under the new Convention Center. The building to the right is Reading Terminal, which now houses most of the Convention Center and the Reading Terminal Market.

Heading to South Philadelphia, the mini-parade of cars 2732 and 2785 proceed down 12th Street.

TT2211

Approaching the south end of Route 23, PCC 2732 heads down tree-lined Marvine Street. Route 23, at over 12 miles, is the longest streetcar route in North America, stretching from Chestnut Hill to 10th & Bigler.

TT2212

Snafu! While heading up Germantown Avenue at Wayne Junction, PCC 2732 got tangled in wire damaged by a too-high truck passing under the low bridge. This brings an end to the Super Saturday Streetcar Special and an end to our look at SEPTA's Historic Streetcars.
