Q Stock at Wimbledon

Q stock.jpg (38039 bytes)

The District operated a variety of cars dating from 1923 to 1938, collectively called Q Stock. As seen on this train approaching Wimbledon, the individual cars in a train had mixed body profiles and door arrangements but each car used the same equipment.  Sliding doors were originally hand operated by passengers until they were converted to remote controlled air operation in 1938.  The last Q Stock operated in passenger service in 1971.
