Even though it may cost a lot more money, we're pretty sure that today's cars actually break less than vehicles from the Golden Age.  Repaits ahve gotten more complicated, and more and more work must be done at dealerships.  Before the Interstate Highway System was started, an auto repait district could be found on the outskirts of most towns.  And their owners could fix jjust about anything that went wrong with those simpler machines.
