Jim--
Boy, this gets tedious, doesn't it?
I printed your new GP7 roster and gleaned several good items of information. I think I can add a few for you: ATSF 2650 blt Oct-50 ATSF 2656 blt Sep/Oct-50 ATSF 2728--I have Nov81 but cannot verify it. EuDaly doesn't show it, so I assume it was off roster by 1994. The rest of your information, road number, etc.-wise looks good. Since the configuration info is not within my pervue, I didn't bother with it, but I'm sure there are some characters out there like us who will appreciate it greatly.
While I think of it, you might mention these are EMD units.
I looked at your code. If overhead is a problem, there are some items you can strip out with no effect on appearance, viz., the tags. Only if you're nesting tables do you need the and tags. Good old WordPad will take them right out with a find and replace. Since I hand code all my pages (just to have the control and less code overhead), I'm a great advocate of these kinds of tips.
I was a bit uncertain at first as to whether I was seeing rebuild or disposition dates and after comparison with my roster discovered they were mostly rebuild dates. A newbie might not be able to make that distinction, so it could be helpful if the rebuilds and dispositions where somehow separated, perhaps a new column (but adding a new column is a lot of work). Under "Rebuilt or Disposed" you might want sub-column headings of "road number," "SPSF paint," and "cab style," or something to that effect. The brake and steam generator column could use a similar heading, maybe even making separate columns just for clarity's sake. You've got a lot of lateral table space in which to expand if you want. Text-wise you might want to explain what else happened at rebuild, e.g., did the short, high-hood get chopped, did the units receive a new version of the freight paint scheme (if so, what scheme--I seem to recall someone in Diesel Era developing a code for the ATSF paint schemes; do you want me to see if I can find it? No guarantee in my messy files.)
You've got a very helpful piece going here, Jim; get Czarnecki to link it! I'll give you credit for GP7 dates now and a link on my site when you're ready--just say the word.
Light snow here this evening. I can hear the plows hitting the main streets of Dubuque. No train/model railroad shows this weekend. Working on an antenna amplifier for my scanners. My previous amp from this schematic worked really well with a magnet-mounted box on my car roof. I was hearing traffic at Edelstein, IL, that none of the rest were privileged to that day. I need to cut and build several more 1/4-wave 161 MHz antennas as some gifts for my railfan friends around here.
In a fit of useless energy I one day began a BNSF system-wide frequency list by division and subdivision (I downloaded all the BNSF timetable .pdf files). It's in HTML format and designed to print for a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 notebook. Interested? I'll attach it to the next e-mail for you. If a larger page size is more to your suiting, just change the font size in the <style> tags on the front end and you're automatically in business. I'm embarrassed to say that I've begun its companion piece, the list of subdivisions by frequency group. Please don't tell anyone just how sick I am!
Take care, Jim.
