Harbor Slab Steel Train, 49th Street Crossing, Vernon, Ca. 6 April 2002.
This train made a daily round trip over the BNSF Harbor Subdivision between Pasha Stevedoring Terminal on Los Angeles Harbor Pier A and California Steel Milling in Fontana. On this night, a group of photographers had arranged for the train to pause for photos beside the sole remaining Mechanical Flagman wig-wag signal on the district. This was our tribute to the history of a rail line that helped put Los Angeles on the map, but is now no more.
