The British Columbia Railway dates from April 1st 1972 when it assumed operations of the Pacific Great Eastern Railway, PGE. BC Rail is Canada's third largest railway in terms of revenue, it operates exclusively in British Columbia, has 2.315 kilometers of mainline and 740 kilometers of industrial, yard and track sidings throughout the province. Some 80% of BC Rail's total revenue is generated from the transport och such goods as forest, energy and agricultural products.
