Burlington Northern & Santa Fe, BNSF, is the product of the merger between Burlington Northern and Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe. After a few attempts the new railroad settled for two paintschemes, Heritage I and Heritage II. The older units have Heritage I and the newer ones Heritage II with the exception of the C44-9W's in the 900, 1000 and 1100-series which have Heritage I. There are still plenty of units around in the older paint schemes of BN and ATSF but who knows for how long? You will find BNSF all over the western hemisphere and in all kinds of scenery, ocean to mountain, desert to forest, and with all kinds of trains, slow unit coal trains to fast intermodal, long mixed freights to short locals.
