Southern Pacific, perhaps best known for it's grimy diesels, have been absorbed by UP but there are still some SP painted locomotives around, from clean SD70M's to grimy SD40T-2's. SP's mighty system once stretched from San Francisco, CA, to St. Louis, MO. One of the best assets SP had was it's Sunset Route across southern California, Arizona and New Mexico which provided a year-round snow free transportation link from east to west and still does so but under UP ownership.
