Western Pacific, the "Feather River Route", is long gone having been absorbed by UP. Mention Western Pacific and what comes to mind for most people is probably the WP's most famous train, The California Zephyr, a joint operation with CB&Q and UP running from Chicago to Oakland. The scenic Feather River Canyon in northern California is what justified the dome cars on that train. Today's Zephyr doesn't use the original route through the Feather River Canyon since it is routed over Donner Pass, the canyon is still used by UP for freight trains though. There isn't much WP equipment left running today with the exception of the occasional boxcar.
