Typically, following discontinuance of mixed trains stations remained for express and LCL freight however, it was often trucked in and out. Station agents were replaced by caretakers if train orders were no longer handled. Mobile Agents drove from station to station to handle what carload freight work remained and eventually, even these jobs were eliminated by 1-800 phone numbers to Customer Service Centres. Most stations and sheds were demolished although a few were rented out for awhile.
