CNR Bathurst Street Yard

View from Bathurst Street bridge shows construction at far right of CNR High Line (freight train bypass tracks).

This view shows CNR Spadina Coach Yard at right which has replaced the freight yard.
Note the tell-tales hanging down. These were held in place by ropes and would brush
against a switchman on top of box cars to warn him about the low clearance of the bridge.
Note too the loudspeakers on the pole to communicate instructions to switchmen. No radios then!

CNR Bathurst Street Yard at left of through TTR tracks was to remain in use for many years.
GO Transit Bathurst North Yard occupies this area now.
Note CPR King Street Lead at far left making the steep climb up to Front & Spadina.
