The Esplanade

Looking east along The Esplanade from Bay Street where the tracks have been dead-ended and turned into team tracks.

Looking east towards Yonge Street level crossing. Major realigning of tracks including former mainline. Work train with loads of white ballast in distance. Toronto Wholesale Fruit Market in the former Great Western station with its unique curved roof at left.

Church Street was one of the level crossings that was closed when a subway was eliminated from the plans.
Note the reefer being unloaded onto a truck on the team tracks. Looking north.

George Street team tracks and Verral shed. Note curved switches. New street construction. Looking south.

Drab and dirty street is a dreary scene in this age old district.

More of the same!

Closeup of Parliament Street level crossing shows detail of planks and guard rails.
