New Brunswick Postage

This postage stamp issued in 1860 was the first in the world to feature a railway locomotive.
It is said to be OSSKEAG No. 9 of the European & North American Railway.
The E&NA had just been extended from Saint John to Shediac.

New Brunswick had begun to issue postage in 1851 and the 1860 series were issued with the change to decimal currency.
New Brunswick joined Confederation in 1867 becoming part of Canada.
