CANAC (Canadian National Consulting)

This was a CNR subsidiary that leased surplus units to industries etc. Following privatizion it was sold to Savage.

CANX 8701 is DIT (Dead In Transit) likely enroute to Dow Chemical in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.
Both it and 8708 were leased to Dow to supplement their roster of several ALCO switchers.
