Black smoke pours from the "Alco" diesel of 6780 (FPA-4 1800hp MLW #83158 3/59) as it accelerates from the station with #30 the first train that Saturday morning July 21, 1979 from Ottawa enroute Montreal. It was one of the Rapido fast trains that operated in the Corridor (Quebec City-Windsor). Cabooses were still in regular use back then.

Note: These "covered wagons" were a Canadian-only model (and CNR only) passenger (34 A and 12 B) units geared for 92mph. They were identical to 75mph freight RS-18's. Some two dozen of these Canadian-only units wound up on various tourist railways in the States, many still in use. ONE remains in Canada at Exporail. 6780 became "Baltimore & Ohio 800"
