Making a rare trip on the point of a freight on CP's Belleville Sub., Deleware & Hudson GP38-2 #7303 leads CP 1861, 4243, and 1850 on train #906 at 10:30, February 5, 1998, at Wesleyville, Ontario. |

Over thirty years old, CP SD40 #5540 is in her last summer on the CPR. A flood of AC4400's and SD90/43MAC & SD90MAC's has freed up enough Soo SD60's and CP SD40-2's that the Toronto pool, and CP, can let go of these faithful units. Even on CP, where trouble-prone models can live long lives, age can kill off the mighty SD40 line.

An interesting lashup on #923 today at Ressor Rd. in northeast Scarbourough, Ontario, as she ferries CEFX SD90/43MAC #138 from the Vermont Rwy. to Chicago, and eventual Union Pacific service in the Pacific Northwest. No doubt this unit may see pool service with CP into Calgary, Alberta. True to form, an SD40-2 leads the way. This location is only a few miles outside CPR's Toronto Yard at Agincourt (Scarborough).

Another day, another #923. This train is a favorite for me because it has provided some memorable lashup's. Most notable to me was the last daylight run of the last five operable CP MLW's. Today I'll have to be content with an SD40-2 - SW1200RSu - SD40-2 sandwitch at Darlington, Ontario on the Belleville Sub.

The world was a better place when a quartet of C424's was not an uncommon sight on the Canadain Pacific. These four are westbound at Beare, Ontario (a CN name), and are just about to step accross the short bridge over CN's York Sub.
