Union Pacific 9203 west passes Saffordville, KS on it's way to Hutchison, ks with trackage rights on BNSF. 9203 is a Dash 8-40C. Santa Fe 653 east passes through Emporia, KS with a pure Santa Fe consist.
UP 8283 east passes through the same location at Emporia, late summer 1998. The train symbol is C-TPKRDR.
BNSF 2648 west, local 31 eases by NR Junction headed into the Emporia yard in the evening hours.
Burlington Northern 2764 west rumbles through NR Junction with a loaded grain train out of Topeka on a different evening.

On September 5, 6, and 7 1998 the Milwaukee Road 261 pulls the Topeka Railroad Days excursion train to Emporia round trip back to Topeka. The first picture it's sitting at Forbes Field south of Topeka where Railroad Days is held. The second picture is a few miles northeast of Emporia as 261 is headed toward Emporia at about 10:00am.
